You can do a blend fit. What you need to do is block the hood with 1000 grit. Do not go through the clear other than in the scratched area. Then fill the scratch with glazing putty if the primer will fill it that is even better. Mask the hood and Prime only the area with the scratch. block sand with 600 grit until the edges of the prime is milky and smooth. Now for your blending in the paint. You are going to light coats of the area and spraying a wider area with each pass until coverage is achieved. Once that is done reclear the hood. You can go on youtube and see some videos on how to do a blend repair.
Like many here I work in a small space and as a hobby. Recently after finishing spraying my first bc/cc project (which went well-some orange peel) the hood I painted slid and was scratched about 4 inches down to primer. Can I do any type of repair to the scratched area other than sanding down the entire hood and repainting it? Paint is solid red no flake or metallic.
