I am searching for a surge protection system for a residential 200amp single phase transfer switch. The transfer switch doesn't have breaker spaces. There is no panel box between the meterbase and the transfer switch. So I am looking for a surge protector that could be installed "in line" on the service cables to protect the transfer switch. I have asked electrical suppliers. They only sell the type of surge protector that looks like a circuit breaker, and would be installed like a circuit breaker. Do they not make the "in line" type surge protector? Will I need to install a panel box between the meterbase and the transfer switch? I thought that a surge protector with service lugs might be available thereby eliminating the need to install a panel box between the meterbase and the transfer switch. I was wrong again?
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
